Purpose of the course:

To provide a basic introduction to reading the Old and New Testament theologically and in the contexts in which we serve.

Minimum Admission Requirements:

Pastors and lay ministers with no prior theological education but with an existing context of ministry.

Structure and duration of the course:

Two modules, with 3 days of interactive learning each.

02 Mar – 08 Jun 2025 on Sundays (option 1)

14 Jul – 16 Jul 2025 (option 2)

29 Sept – 03 Oct 2025 (option 3)

R2 500 (Incl VAT)

COURSE CONTENT

  • Module 1: Basic study methods and basic terminology in Biblical studies.

  • Module 2: The first five books of the Old Testament.

  • Module 3: The history, poetry and wisdom literature of the Old Testament.

  • Module 4: The prophets of the Old Testament.

  • Module 5: The Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles.

  • Module 6: The letters of Paul and other letters of the New Testament.

  • Module 7: The Book of Revelation.

  • Module 8: The Old and New Testament in our context today.
