Purpose of the course:

This course is for practitioners and leaders of organisations and ministries dealing with children’s issues, and policy makers in the field of child justice. As such, it is a must for practitioners, faith based leaders, other leaders and anyone who is committed to children as a socio-political and theological priority, and who would like to think theologically about the priority of children.

Minimum Admission Requirements:

Child advocates or leaders of programmes focused on children, and anyone committed to them and their context as a theological priority who have Grade 12 and a 3 year post-matric qualification.

Structure and duration of course:

The course is presented over five days. A homework assignment must be completed. Evaluation is done during the period of contact tuition.

Course content:

Module 1: Children as a theological and sociological priority.

Module 2: Doing child-centred contextual theology.

Module 3: Child development and holistic ministry.

Module 4: Healing the wounded child.

Module 5: Child protection and child justice.

Module 6: Advocacy for, with and by children.
